Masters Degree Description

Our Postgraduate Certificates or PgCerts are a named award that allows you the opportunity to study masters level modules and receive a PgCert exit award in a specific area of practice relevant to your specialism or chosen area of  development.

 Our PgCerts are ideal if you:

  • Would like to experience level 7 study in a particular area of practice without the commitment to a full masters award
  • Are looking for specific areas of professional development or training
  • Already have a masters and are looking to focus on specialist practice
  • Want to undertake a masters eventually and gain credits that can be transferred into the masters award.

The PgCert Clinical Education is specifically tailored to support and develop knowledge and understanding within the complexities of clinical education and supervision. It also focuses on innovation, educational developments, and leadership.

PgCert Clinical Education provides the essential knowledge, skills and tools to enhance your professional development within this area of practice.

The PgCert Clinical Education comprises three 20-credit modules that enable you to develop knowledge, skills and understanding within education and leadership settings. You will study part-time over six months.

The course aims to develop the underpinning principles, the latest innovations and approaches to the concepts and challenges of healthcare and clinical education and leadership. It will help you use critical analysis to analyse current thinking in leadership, the impact of the changing multi-professional workforce and approaches to collaborative working.

Entry Requirements

BA/BSc (Hons) in relevant field at 2:2 or above, or evidence of potential to study at Masters Level

  • Relevant work experience

    Applicants must be able to facilitate the achievement of the assessment of competency required with an appropriately qualified supervisor and within an appropriate clinical setting.

Student Destinations

The knowledge, skills, and clinical understanding provided within this course will support the development of both nursing and Allied Health professionals. It is designed for those who already work in, or are interested in working within, clinical education environments. This continued professional development programme is designed to support further development of health professionals who may wish to specialise or gain further development within these areas of practice. 

Module Details

Modules are designated core or optional in accordance with professional body requirements, as applicable, and LJMU’s Academic Framework Regulations. Whilst you are required to study core modules, optional modules provide you with an element of choice. Their availability may vary and will be subject to meeting minimum student numbers.

Where changes to modules are necessary these will be communicated as appropriate.
