Masters Degree Description

The MSc Computing Science is designed for graduates of non-computing subjects to broaden their knowledge in computer technologies and pursue new career prospects. The training in this course not only teaches essential computing technical knowledge, but you are encouraged to develop professional skills in communication, critical thinking, reasoning, problem solving, independent and team work and project management. Students study a diverse range of modules including Software Development Methodologies with UML (Unified Modelling Language) and Internet and Multimedia Technology. All modules are integrated in a web-based framework where students are grouped in teams to design and implement a substantial web-based application. Students also take a few optional modules, covering such areas as Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing.

Entry Requirements

Open to students of any discipline with a good first Bachelor’s degree (min 2.1 or equivalent). A Postgraduate Diploma entry route is available for applicants whose qualifications don’t meet the entry requirements, with the possibility to upgrade during the course. We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

  • IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components)
  • PTE (Pearson): 62 (minimum 55 in all components)
