Masters Degree Description

 Competence and knowledge for excellence in Critical Care practice is changing. The introduction of the National Standards and Competencies for Critical Care Education has underpinned this Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care and has enabled students to access a programme at the forefront of Critical Care Master’s-level education.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care incorporates the latest simulation techniques enable the practitioner to link theory to practice and by combining this with rigorous academic theory, and practice competencies, this will support the practitioner to develop into a competent and effective nurse within the critical care environment.

The University gives the students access to an expansive library and e-library and the comprehensive support offered for students studying at this level enables access to online resources and support materials.

For the student who completes this course the opportunity to exit with a formal certificate in such a speciality is an exciting opportunity.

 

Entry Requirements

For our course, we require that the applicant must be a registered practitioner with a minimum of 12 months’ postregistration experience in a critical care area. Successful completion of a degree at 2:1 or equivalent is also normally required for postgraduate-level study.

Module Details

The Postgraduate Certificate in Critical Care comprehensively covers the core systems involved within the care of critically ill patients and incorporated in the competencies. 

Several additional key areas are addressed, including leadership and professionalism, evidence-based practice, research, and the incorporation of wider thinking and development aspects of critical care, including innovation and development of practice aid to strengthen the development of a competent practitioner.
