Masters Degree Description

The Early Modern History pathway examines the relationships between society, culture, politics and ideology in England between c1500 and c1700. The course provides an in-depth examination of the nature of power, authority, ideology and culture in England between the Reformation and the early eighteenth century. 

Entry Requirements

Open to applicants with a good first degree (UK BA (Hons) 2:1 or equivalent) in History or a related subject. Special entry requirements include the submission of a sample of written work on a historical subject accompanying your application. Please visit UEA’s website for complete details.

 We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

  • IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components)
  • PTE (Pearson): 62 (minimum 55 in all components)
