Initial Teacher Education placements statement
We are keeping our approach to Initial Teacher Education under constant review. At present we are planning to run all our Initial Teacher Education Courses as advertised.
Those enrolling will normally possess at least a minimum Level 3 qualification in their own area of specialism. Before applying to Canterbury Christ Church University, you will need to apply and be accepted to the course at one of our partner colleges (see Where will I Study for a list of partners).
A teacher is expected to be vocationally qualified to a minimum of one level above that of the course they are teaching on. You’ll need to demonstrate at interview your ability to benefit from the course and to meet the teaching requirement applicable to the course you’ve chosen.
If English is not your first language you require an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5 for most standard undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There are some exceptions and if the IELTS requirement differs it will be specified on the course page.
