Masters Degree Description

UCL’s Environment and Sustainable Development MSc equips you with the clarity, skills and agency to tackle socio-environmental challenges and work towards more equitable, sustainable urban futures. Through interdisciplinary learning, hands-on fieldwork and collaboration with partners, you grow as a reflective development practitioner, ready to support environmental justice and foster change in the Global South and beyond.

Entry Requirements

The normal minimum qualifications are an upper second-class Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard; and a demonstrated interest in the subject matter of the programme. A minimum of six months work experience is also recommended. Candidates who do not meet the above requirements may be considered if they are able to demonstrate substantial relevant senior-level professional experience and an ability to engage academically with the subject matter of the programme.

Student Destinations

Graduates of the Environment and Sustainable Development MSc work across public, private and non-governmental sectors across the world, influencing environmental policy and planning—particularly in development contexts in the Global South. They take on roles such as policy advisors, programme coordinators, planners, researchers and sustainability consultants, while others go on to further study at MPhil or PhD level.
