The underlying philosophy of the MSc Evidence-Based Policing is to enable policing graduates (and those who have a degree in another discipline), and professionals already working within the police or other relevant agencies, to continue your professional, educational and personal development by consolidating, enhancing and extending your disciplinary expertise, experience, professional ethics and abilities.
You acquire and develop recognised subject-specific knowledge and understanding, and cognitive, intellectual, practical, professional and generic key skills and qualities. You also effectively plan, manage and evaluate your own learning to become an independent life-long learner.
Expert knowledge from both academics and practitioners in the field of policing and practice underpins your learning experience. You gain a deep theoretical knowledge of evidence-based policing and transferable skills, which will benefit your workplace impact and/or prepare you for further study. You will have opportunities to research alongside current serving police officers within the locality and the academic staff involved in the University’s Policing Clinic.
Normally at least a 2.2 honours degree in professional policing or a related subject. We also consider applications from serving police officers, with more than five years’ professional experience. You may be invited for an interview to determine suitability.
