Masters Degree Description

This MA reflects an important and developing area in the social sciences. Its impact can be seen in the rise of identity politics, new social movements and the emergence of an alternative, cultural view of politics. Students consider the impact of cultural politics and links to the rise of nationalism, multiculturalism and the importance attached to the mass media. This MA offers an inter-disciplinary approach to the study of cultural politics, building on the common interests of political scientists, philosophers, economists, literary theorists, historians as well as experts in media and cultural studies.

Entry Requirements

Open to applicants with a good Honours degree – UK BA (Hons) 2:1 or equivalent – in a Humanities or Social Sciences subject. We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

  • IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components)
  • PTE (Pearson): 62 (minimum 55 in all components)
