Masters Degree Description
If you’re a mental health practitioner, then our course offers an inspiring, creative and enterprising approach to your continuing education. You’ll develop your practical mental health skills and sharpen your critical thinking. You’ll gain fresh knowledge and evidence-based expertise that meets the demands of contemporary mental health provision.
Our course meets your learning and development needs whatever your practice area. Delivered part-time, it will fit around your work and personal commitments. You can aim for a full masters degree, take individual modules that reflect your interests, or choose to take a number of modules toward a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma. All of which will enhance your professional career.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Health Care, Mental Health, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment.
All students will normally be working, in paid or unpaid employment, within mental health and/or community care as students need to be able to reflect on their experience and relate theory with practice. All applicants should be able to evidence recent professional development/study; of working with different patient/client groups; awareness of current policies affecting the sector and potential implications for service delivery. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional; all applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements.
IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
