MA Music: Global Popular Musics Pathway

Masters Degree Description

This programme builds on one of the Department’s newest areas for research and teaching. It focuses on popular music in global, diasporic, transnational, and linguistically diverse forms, reflecting emerging trends in popular music scholarship.

Entry Requirements

12 month route

  • A good Honours degree (or equivalent), or equivalent professional qualification
  • Five years’ work experience with three years of professional finance-related work experience including managerial responsibility
  • IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 6.5 in any band); TOEFL IBT 95 (with no less than 22 in any band); Pearson Academic Test of English 67 (in all four skills)

21 month route

  • A good Honours degree, demonstrated numeracy, and adequate preparation in Economics and Accounting
  • Minimum 3 years of professional finance-related work experience – with at least 12 months at managerial level or demonstrating professional responsibility.
  • IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in any band); TOEFL IBT 88 (21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing); Pearson Academic Test of English 59 (in all four skills)

12 and 21 month routes

Please note we will also consider candidates without a first degree or professional qualification but with at least ten years’ work experience including significant managerial responsibility.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) 

Although we do not require GMAT to study our MBA, we recognise it as a rigorous and challenging assessment of analytical, numerical and verbal reasoning skills. We welcome applicants in possession of a GMAT and we will consider it alongside your other qualifications and experience.
