The programme adopts an enquiry-based learning ethos focused on student-centred independent learning, problem solving and decision making; the course operates on an evolving level of complexity: from engaging with straightforward case scenarios that develop baseline theoretical and therapeutic understandings, through to complex scenarios addressing service development needs; integral to the programme are the practice placements: in year 1 students undertake 1 level 1 (7 week) block; in year 2 student undertake 1 level 2 (7 week) block and 2 level 3 (7 and 8 weeks) blocks; the final 8 week placement is a professional development placement, identified and organised by the student; the placements are non-M level aspects of the professional practice modules with a pass or fail mark and with level 1, 2 and 3 outcomes.
A 2:1 degree in biological sciences, sports science or a related subject, or equivalent; applicants must have graduated within the last 10 years; all applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 7.0 in all skills), TOEFL 94 (internet-based, with a minimum of 23 in all skills), or PTE 70 (with a minimum of 70 in all skills); where a visa for study is required, UK Borders Agency minimum English requirements must be met; admission is subject to satisfactory CRB and occupational health checks.
