Masters Degree Description

Our PGCE with QTS (Employed Route) enables trainee teachers to gain Qualified Teacher Status while in employment in schools in England.

The course is offered at primary level (for trainees teaching pupils aged 5-11) and in a range of subjects at secondary level (for trainees teaching pupils aged 11-16 or 11-18). The course is also offered for the 14-19 age range in subjects which are usually only taught in Key Stages 4 and 5.

  • Trainees learn from expert practitioners ‘on the job’ while being paid.
  • Academic learning takes place online with the support of experienced university lead mentors.
  • Flexible delivery approaches ensure the course is accessible to trainee teachers anywhere in England.
  • Choice of 20 subject specialisms at secondary level (11-19 age range).

Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree, or equivalent as assessed by UK ENIC.
  • Hold a GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in maths and English, and for trainees teaching children aged 5-11, hold a standard equivalent to a GCSE (Grade 4) in a science subject.
  • Be employed in a school in the relevant age phase.
