Masters Degree Description

Develop your foundations of public health knowledge and skills with our postgraduate certificate in public health.

On this PGCert course, you'll gain an understanding of the key concepts and issues in public health, including:

  • wider determinants of health and inequalities
  • improving population health
  • disease prevention
  • putting research into practice

You'll also gain basic skills in research, critical thinking and public health problem solving.

Our public health certificate programme is a shorter postgraduate course including the same key modules and master's-level content as our MPH Public Health degree programme. It is ideal for people who are already working in public health or don't have time to study a full master's degree.

This course will give you:

  • a recognised qualification to start or continue your public health career
  • the opportunity to create your own programme by choosing modules that fit your learning needs
  • transferable skills including team-working, communication, and managing yourself and your work

Entry Requirements

You'll typically need a 2:1 degree to apply for PGCert Public Health. We may consider a 2:2 degree if you can also evidence relevant professional experience or a strong commitment to public health.

We accept applicants with a variety of degrees. You must be able to show how your degree and interests relate to public health, and demonstrate your numerical competence.
