Masters Degree Description

Advance your public health knowledge and develop essential skills with our postgraduate diploma in public health.

On this PGDip course, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the key concepts in public health, such as:

  • improving population health
  • disease prevention
  • putting research into practice
  • wider determinants of health and inequalities

You'll also gain research skills, as well as skills in using data and critical appraisal, which are essential to any role in public health.

This postgraduate course contains key modules from the same master's-level content as our MPH Public Health degree programme, but does not require you to study the full master's.

Our public health diploma course will give you:

  • an opportunity to start or continue your public health career with a recognised qualification
  • the flexibility to choose modules and create your own programme around your learning needs
  • transferable skills in problem solving, teamworking, confidence, and managing yourself and your work

Entry Requirements

Typically, you'll need a 2:1 degree to apply for our postgraduate diploma in public health. We may consider a 2:2 degree if you can evidence relevant professional experience or a strong commitment to public health.

Our successful applicants have a wide range of degrees – when applying for PGDip Public Health, you need to show how your degree and interests connect to public health. You must also demonstrate your numerical competence.
