PGCE School Direct Primary Education

  • DeadlineStudy Details:

PGCE: a full-time course commencing at the end of August 2015 and finishing by the beginning of July 2016

Masters Degree Description

We understand that you know where you want to end up as a teacher – either in a specific location or at a certain type of school. With our School Direct courses you will be able to search for a school you want to work in and then apply to work there to complete your PGCE.

As part of your training you will focus on the 5-11 age range and develop your subject knowledge of teaching English, mathematics and science. We will also help you to develop your experience, understanding and teaching of the foundation subjects at Key Stages 1 and 2.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have at least an upper second class honours degree in a cognate subject. Applicants with a lower second class honours degree in a cognate subject may be considered if they have extensive relevant work experience.

Practical Experience Substantial classroom based work experience (at least 150 hours in the previous 12 months) in a UK Primary school across both Key Stages must have been completed prior to you making your application. Experience of working with children in settings other than classrooms would enhance your application.
