Enhance your knowledge and skills as a healthcare professional with our MSc Advancing Healthcare Practice.
Practising healthcare professionals can apply to study this flexible, taught, workplace-based master’s degree, which combines a range of optional and compulsory modules to suit their learning needs. If you already have postgraduate academic credits from other healthcare-based courses — such as PGCert/Dip in Pharmacy Practice, PGDip in Physician Associate Studies, PGCert in Independent Prescribing, or another healthcare-related subject — you will be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to join the programme partway through.
Full MSc programme
If you are interested in studying the flexible MSc, the module options you choose will determine when you will be able to apply for the programme.
For those joining the programme for the MSc final modules, a top-up research skills module and subsequent workplace-based project will allow students to advance their learning further and gain a master’s degree in 9-12 months.
You will complete a 20-credit taught module in research skills at the University, before undertaking a 40-credit research project in your place of work. This project is usually co-supervised by a senior colleague from your workplace, although there may be opportunities for full supervision by the University.
Students can produce a mini professional practice portfolio throughout their studies. Where relevant, this can be mapped to a Professional Competency Framework and used for submission for Professional Recognition Credentialing, for example, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or the Royal College of Nursing.
